WE'VE HAD ENOUGH PERIOD.
A Crew 02 production brought to by AFDA

Student short film highlighting the stigma and embarrassment surrounding the topic of menstruation in the current social climate. My goal was to create a poster and DVD cover for a student film ensuring that it sticks to theme and intention of the film.
Uneasiness around menstrual blood in advertising has deep cultural roots that have led to the use of mystery blue liquid in menstrual hygiene product commercials . In numerous ways, we're still carrying the consequences of ancient beliefs about menstruation and its "impurities".
Inspiration of  the poster was inspired by anti-tampon tax campaigns  due to their simplistic style and bold use of colour creating contrast and the use of font. The style used by the posters above catches the viewers eyes and portrays the information in a simple manner.
The poster was designed to be simple. Colour played a big role in the poster and the DVD cover, as the use of contrast between red and white would be implemented to bring attention to key parts within the poster . The use of red goes against the traditional blue colours used in advertising creating tension and brings seriousness to issue that the film is presenting.
A5 poster for the film "We've had enough period".
The tampon is an easily recognisable symbol and brings different reactions to who ever views it. The cultural stigma around of how men and women differently view the issue along with the ignorance of some people towards the topic and tampons is why the symbol of the tampon was used to incite a reaction and start a conversation. The tampon in the centre of the poster catches the viewers eye while also highlighting that such an issue should not be ignored.
A4 DVD cover for the film "We've had enough period."
The DVD cover was based off the poster and follows the simplicity and use of colour used in the poster.
